Hamilton, Ontario, Ready to Welcome the Commonwealth Games Back in 2030

Bid Submitted to Federal and Provincial Governments for Support

Hamilton, Ontario is eager to regain the honor of hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030. The city, which first hosted the event in 1930 when it was known as the British Empire Games, has submitted a bid to the federal and provincial governments seeking support for the proposal.

The bid, led by the Hamilton 2030 group, outlines a comprehensive plan to bring the Games back to Hamilton. The group emphasizes the city's rich sporting history, its state-of-the-art facilities, and its vibrant community as key factors in its bid.

"We are confident that Hamilton has everything it takes to host a successful and memorable Commonwealth Games in 2030," said Jason Thorne, CEO of Hamilton 2030. "Our city has a deep-rooted passion for sports, and we are committed to creating an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike."

The Commonwealth Games are a multi-sport event that take place every four years, featuring athletes from over 70 countries. The Games are known for their diverse range of sports, from track and field to swimming to cycling, and provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talents on a global stage.

Hamilton's bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games will now undergo a rigorous evaluation process by the Commonwealth Games Federation. A decision on the host city is expected to be made later this year.
